The Jezebel Spirit

The spirit of Jezebel takes on many forms. Most people associate this spirit with the lusty, sexual immoral, seductress, but the main issue with this spirit is the unauthorized and illegitimate power taken by this spirit. This spirit is the person who likes to control situations through speaking, controlling people through manipulation, acting more like a man than a woman (due to an unwillingness to submit to a husband or man authority figure), or a wife looking for an escape through someone other than the God-given answers (such as family, His word, or His spirit).

“But Jezebel his wife came to him and said to him, "How is it that your spirit is so sullen that you are not eating food?" So he said to her, "Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite and said to him, 'Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you a vineyard in its place.' But he said, 'I will not give you my vineyard.'" Jezebel his wife said to him, "Do you now reign over Israel? Arise, eat bread, and let your heart be joyful; I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite." So she wrote letters in Ahab's name and sealed them with his seal, and sent letters to the elders and to the nobles who were living with Naboth in his city. Now she wrote in the letters, saying, "Proclaim a fast and seat Naboth at the head of the people; and seat two worthless men before him, and let them testify against him, saying, 'You cursed God and the king.' Then take him out and stone him to death."

When Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned and was dead, Jezebel said to Ahab, "Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth, the Jezreelite, which he refused to give you for money; for Naboth is not alive, but dead." When Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, Ahab arose to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.”

‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭21:5-10, 15-16‬ ‭NASB‬‬

It was not Jezebel's legitimate authority to take such actions, but her pride and power-hungry spirit caused her issues as well as issues for those associated with her.

“You shall strike the house of Ahab your master, that I may avenge the blood of My servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the LORD, at the hand of Jezebel.

I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah. The dogs shall eat Jezebel in the territory of Jezreel, and none shall bury her.'" Then he opened the door and fled.”

‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭9:7, 9-10‬ ‭NASB‬‬

This is a promise and prophesy of God against such people with the spirit of Jezebel and those that willingly associate with that person. DO NOT be an illegitimate and prideful power thief, but be submitted to the proper authorities and humble yourself before God and HE will take care of you.

“But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, "GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE." Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”

‭‭James‬ ‭4:6-8‬ ‭NASB‬‬

God only blesses those that are humble and not proud. The word above says to SUBMIT to God. That includes those He has ordained as HIS authority figures. That includes your husband not your prideful, self-honoring spirit that can condemn your soul by God opposing you. You must get closer to God and put your flesh, pride, and inappropriate "dreams, lusts, and desires" away.

“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:1-3‬ ‭NASB‬‬

We must submit to God by giving our lives as a living sacrifice to God. When you go against what God has appointed or where God has put you (in a marriage, in a church, or what God has called you to) you say in your mind that you know better than God and you are not willing to love Him by honoring what He has called you to do or stay where He has called you to stay. This is called DESERTION. Do not think more highly of yourself and your ideas for what you feel is best for you or what you desire or think would be better that is directly against what GOD ordained for you. You will be brought down and humbled by God Himself. I pray that those that have given into this spirit of Jezebel repent and draw closer to God and learn to have self-control (which is a fruit of the Spirit).

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:22-25‬ ‭NASB‬‬

Just remember that those that belong to Jesus Christ have crucified the flesh (its desires, dreams, and lusts - not just sexual lusts). It's time to love Jesus more than your sin.
